At Ear Works Audiology, we understand that your hearing aids are essential to your daily life. Our licensed audiologists and hearing specialists provide expert care to ensure your devices remain in top working condition—without the long wait times. Whether you need a quick fix or a comprehensive adjustment, we’re here to help with the following professional services:

If your rechargeable hearing aid battery no longer holds a charge, we can replace it on demand. This service is fast, convenient, and ensures you don’t have to go without your device.

For behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids, tubing can wear out or become blocked over time. We offer immediate tubing replacement to restore sound quality and comfort.

If your ear molds are damaged, uncomfortable, or outdated, we can create new ones to ensure a snug, effective fit. A proper mold enhances sound quality and prevents whistling or feedback.

If your hearing needs have changed or your current molds no longer fit well, we can take fresh ear impressions in-office to create new custom molds tailored to your ear canal shape.

Hearing aid receivers (speakers) are key to device performance. If a receiver fails, we can replace it quickly in-office, restoring your hearing without delay.

Hearing changes over time. We can reprogram your hearing aids to reflect any changes in your hearing profile using your most current hearing test results, ensuring your devices are always optimized for your needs.

If your hearing aids or their chargers aren’t working properly, we offer comprehensive diagnostics to identify the issue and provide immediate or long-term solutions.

If your hearing aid has been lost or damaged beyond repair, we can help you replace it quickly. Our team works with most major hearing aid manufacturers to ensure a seamless process.

When your hearing aids require manufacturer repair, we send them out on your behalf. While you wait, we provide loaner devices to keep you connected and hearing.

Hearing aids are made up of many parts that can wear out over time. Whether it’s wax filters, microphone covers, or battery doors, we can replace components as needed to restore full functionality.

If your ear mold causes discomfort or doesn’t fit quite right, we can adjust it in-office for a better, more comfortable seal—no need to send it out.

Modern hearing aids often connect with smartphones and apps for enhanced functionality. We help pair your devices, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and guide you through how to use all available features.

TYPES OF HEARING AIDS

We carry hearing aids in a variety of styles and colors, including the following:

Receiver-in-Canal (RIC) hearing aids are reliable and convenient. These have a lightweight feel to them and a flexible fit.

Completely-in-Canal (CIC) hearing aids are sleek and subtle. This technology is molded to the unique contours of your ear for a superior fit that offers a natural look and hearing experience.

In-the-Ear (ITE) hearing aids are custom molded for you. They are powerful and comfortable, allowing for all-day use.

Open BTE are behind-the-ear devices that have an open fit. This type of hearing aid provides amplification via a small tube inserted into the ear canal.

Behind-the-Ear (BTE) hearing aids put you in control with customizable fit options, wireless connectivity, and easy volume control.

In-the-Canal (ITC) hearing aids are discreet and have a glasses-friendly fit with external controls.

Invisible-In-the-Canal (IIC) hearing aids are the smallest hearing instrument available. These are for people who want ultimate discretion while benefiting from the natural acoustics of the external ear.

Hearing Aid Troubleshooting Checklist

If you are experiencing weak sound, internal noise, distortion, whistling, or complete loss of sound from your hearing aids, there are a few steps you can take at home to problem-solve.

Control Settings:

  • The hearing aid is on and set to the microphone
  • Volume is set appropriately

Battery:

  • The correct size is used and the battery door is closed completely
  • Battery placed correctly (+ flat side up)
  • Check if the battery is dead
  • Check for corroded battery
  • Try a new battery
  • Adequate contact of components with the battery

Cerumen:

  • Clogged receiver – ITE, ITC, CIC
  • Remove wax with a wire loop or a small brush
  • Be careful not to push wax deeper into the receiver area, which would require repair to remove
  • Clogged earmold – BTE
  • Clean with a wire loop or small brush or clean the earmold with soapy water and dry thoroughly

Earmold:

  • Make sure the hearing aid or earmold has proper placement to reduce feedback

Moisture:

  • Moisture in the hearing aid can cause damage to the internal circuitry. If damaged, the hearing aid may have to be sent to the manufacturer for repairs

If these tips for troubleshooting do not correct any issues with your hearing aids, please contact us.
